of importing a left hand drive vehicle into New Zealand?
Don't get trapped with a vehicle that at best, needs a right hand
drive conversion or at worst, cannot be vinned here at all.
Vehicles over 20 years old
The LTSA stipulates that anyone over 15 years old can import a
left hand drive vehicle over 20 years old, providing they have
not imported another LHD vehicle (older than 20 years) in the
same name within a 12 month period. The vehicle must be registered
in the importers name as the first owner, and must be owned by
that person for a minimum of 6 months before being sold (a declaration
must be signed upon registering).
